  1. Jobs, Small Businesses, and a More Inclusive Economy

With so many out of work and so many small businesses struggling to survive, my top economic priority as mayor will be supporting job creation and small business growth, while working to reduce poverty so that all Stamford residents can find good paying jobs and provide for their families. As Co-Chair of the Commerce Committee, it has been an honor to help lead passage of dozens of bills to support small business growth and job creation throughout Stamford and across Connecticut. Additionally, as a Program Specialist at the Women’s Business Development Council, I worked with women and minority-owned businesses in Stamford to help them get access to capital. Building on these experiences, as mayor, I will focus on the following priorities:

  • Launching a Stamford Small Business COVID-19 recovery fund that provides grants to Stamford small businesses impacted by COVID-19.

  • Reducing the poverty rate in Stamford and shrinking economic inequities.

  • Creating workforce development opportunities to help individuals who lost their jobs due to COVID-19 gain new employment.

  • Retaining and recruiting businesses to Stamford which will provide better job opportunities for residents and position Stamford as an attractive place to live and start a business.

  • Modernizing the process for obtaining permits and licenses by reducing paperwork and making the process more digitally friendly.
